Privacy Policy

1. Scope and summary

GutCheck AI (“GutCheck,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a personal wellness-tracking app and related website. This policy applies to the GutCheck AI iPhone app, gutcheckai.io, and related support communications.

GutCheck is built around a cloud-backed, authenticated account so that the app can provide your private tracking experience. We do not sell your personal wellness information for advertising. We do not display third-party advertising in the app.

2. Information we handle

The information we handle depends on what you choose to use. We ask you not to enter information you do not want associated with your private wellness record.

3. How we use information

We use the information described above to provide and maintain GutCheck, protect accounts and features against misuse, respond to support requests, and make the product work as described. We may also use de-identified or aggregate information to understand high-level product performance.

We do not use the text of your wellness notes, your messages, photo content, or other health-entry content as product-analytics events. We do not sell or rent personal wellness information for third-party advertising or marketing.

4. Optional AI features and consent

GutCheck may offer optional AI-powered wellness reflections and coaching. Those features are not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. They may be useful for organizing general wellness questions or reflecting on a record you already chose to keep, but they are not a substitute for a qualified clinician.

Before an optional AI feature processes relevant private wellness context, the app presents a purpose-specific request for permission. For example, a request to use the GutCheck Coach is separate from a request to generate an optional reflection about a saved log. You may decline, or revoke an existing permission, in the app’s Settings.

5. Service providers and sharing

We use service providers to operate the app, including providers that support authentication, cloud database services, private file storage, and secure server functions. We may use an AI-processing service provider only when you choose an optional feature and provide the applicable in-app permission. These providers may process information on our behalf solely to provide and protect the service.

We may also disclose information if required by law, lawful process, or a valid governmental request; to protect the rights, safety, and security of GutCheck, our users, or others; or in connection with a corporate transaction such as a merger or acquisition, subject to applicable law.

Apple independently processes App Store purchases and subscription management under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy. We receive only the information necessary to verify and administer your GutCheck subscription entitlement.

6. Product analytics

We use limited, privacy-minimized events to understand whether core product flows work. For example, we may record that a user opened a screen, started or completed a check-in, viewed a paywall, began or completed a purchase, restored a purchase, or was shown a review prompt.

These events are designed to contain only allow-listed product metadata such as an event name, app surface, optional plan selection, and app version. They are not designed to include notes, meals, symptoms, photos, AI prompts, AI responses, or other health-entry content.

7. Your choices and controls

• AI permissions: Review or revoke optional AI permissions in the app’s Settings.
• Subscriptions: Restore an eligible purchase in the app, and manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID and App Store subscription settings.
• Account deletion: Start account deletion in the app’s Settings. The account-deletion action is designed to delete the requesting account’s app data and private stored objects rather than another user’s information.
• Access and support: Contact us at support@gutcheckai.io with privacy questions or a request related to your information.

Some privacy laws may give you additional rights, such as the right to request access, correction, deletion, or information about processing. We will respond to a verified request as required by applicable law.

8. Security and retention

We use administrative, technical, and access-control measures designed to protect information, including authenticated account access and private, owner-scoped access for optional photo storage. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain security. After an account-deletion request, active account data is removed according to our deletion process, subject to lawful retention needs and the normal lifecycle of secure system backups.

9. Children’s privacy

GutCheck is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at support@gutcheckai.io.

10. Changes to this policy and contact

We may update this policy when the app, applicable law, or our data practices change. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and provide any additional notice required by law.
